GSPC wants fourth rig for KG-OSN-2001/3

GSPC will soon have four rigs drilling at its discovery block KG-OSN-2001/3 following agreement with Reliance to share Deep Driller-1 from Premium Drilling.

“Reliance and GSPC have verbally agreed to share the rig,â€‌ says a source. “They are yet to sign a written contract but it will be done soon.

â€‌ Deep Driller-1 is a newly built 375 feet independent leg cantilever jack-up and will be moved to the GSPC block after completing her current and last exploration well for Hardy Oil at CY-OS/2 further down the coast in the Cauvery basin. “GSPC plans to drill two wells using this rig,â€‌ adds a source.

“She will be with us for a year. It takes five months or so to drill one well.

â€‌ In March last year, Reliance issued a LoI to Jindal Drilling subsidiary Discovery Enterprises for Deep Driller-1 but has since been talking to GSPC about a rig share agreement. GSPC already has two rigs at KG-OSN-2001/3: Atwood Beacon and Perro Negro 3.

A third rig, Essar Wildcat, will reach the block in June.
