Rajasthan wants to set up a gas supply grid to benefit from significant quantities of gas expected from Cairn Energys RJ-ON-90/1 block.

This report learns Rajasthan authorities are keen to replicate neighbour Gujarats experience in setting up a gas supply grid and in drafting gas legislation. Help is being sought from the Adani Group, which is setting up a CGD network in Ahmedabad, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

On 9th November, an Adani team made a presentation to Rajasthan authorities outlining the basic information needed before setting up a gas grid. We suggested that they should first carry out a detailed study to generate figures on demand and supply, says an Adani source.

Rajasthan wants to set up CGD networks in Udaipur, Jaipur, Neemrana and Alwar. Adani infrastructure CEO Sanjay Gupta drafted the Gujarat Gas Act when MD of Gujarat State Petroleum and set up pipeline company Gujarat State Petronet.
