Alkor Petro begins crude production in Gujarat

Vol 9, PW 17 (01 Dec 05) News in Brief

Alkor Petro owned Heramec is planning to start producing small quantities of crude from its Allora and Dholasan fields in Gujarat this month.

Alkor tells us Allora would begin producing 110 b/d and Dholasan would begin producing 60 b/d. In June 2005, Alkor Petro submitted a work programme to the DGH for the development of the fields, including re-entering one or two wells, two development wells and 3D.

We are planning to shoot 3D of 8-sq km to 16-sq km next year, we learn. Alkor wants to hire Geofizyka Torun of Poland, which is already doing work for GSPC nearby.

Workover operations are still underway at Alkors Kanawara field, also in Gujarat, where production will begin in late December. Alkor is also planning a well at its North Kathana field at the end of this month.

Separately, Alkor has 30% stake at North Balol gasfield, operated by Hindustan Oil Exploration, producing 5000 cm/d with potential to increase to 30,000 cm/d.
