Changes at the Indian and Pakistani missions in London

Indias High Commissioner to London, Lalit Mansingh, is returning to Delhi to take up the post of Foreign Secretary, the senior most official in Indias Ministry of External Affairs.

He will report to the Foreign Minister, Jaswant Singh. Mansingh leaves London after just 13 months.

In Delhi, he will take over from the foreign secretary K Raghunath. Meanwhile, Akbar Ahmed, a Cambridge University fellow and apologist of the dictatorship in Pakistan has been appointed the new Pakistani High Commissioner (Ambassador, now that Pakistan is expelled from the Commonwealth) in London by the military junta.

Ahmed is a prominent TV personality in the UK.
