Enron proposes new gas pipeline in Gujarat

Vol 4, PW 12 (19 Jul 00) News in Brief

Enron has offered to construct a gas pipeline between Talasari on the border with Maharashtra and Hazira in Gujarat to ship its regassified LNG from Dabhol.

Enron made the request in a letter to the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board in late June. A source tells Petrowatch Gujarat authorities have asked Enron to prepare a detailed technical and financial proposal for the pipeline, which will form part of the state's upcoming gas grid.

It is understood the 30-inch diameter pipeline will run for 140km, cost approximately Rs500cr ($116m) and will be built on a Build, Lease, Manage and Transfer basis - not on a Build, Operate, Transfer basis.
