Gas supply talks between ONGC and BSES

After months of delay, the Bombay Suburban Electricity Supply (BSES) company has begun talks with ONGC to finalise a gas supply contract for the company's proposed 495-MW gas-fired power station at Safale near Mumbai.

"They have sent us the draft of the contract," a BSES source tells Petrowatch, "We have begun talks and should be able to sign the contract by the end of this month." Gas for the Safale plant will come from ONGC's marginal C-24 field offshore Bombay - enough to generate 200-MW of electricity. "ONGC is looking for more gas," adds the source, "We want more gas from them."
