Internet delivery of LPG from Caltex

Customers in southern India can order LPG gas connections via the internet, thanks to a new service from Caltex.

The new service at is promoted by Caltex and its local joint venture partner, the Chennai-based Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC). It offers a gas connection, stove lighter and tube fuel for Rs2,250.

Meanwhile rival Elf Gas (India) this month commissioned a bulk LPG importation, storage and bottling facility at Thokur near Mangalore New Port in Karnataka. Elf executive Pierre Loiseau told a press conference that initial capacity would be increased from 3,000 tonnes per year to 9,000.

Loiseau said an associated bottling plant has a capacity to process 25,000 tonnes of LPG per annum. Elf Gas (India) is a 100% owned subsidiary of (soon-to-be sold) Elf Antargaz.
