Chatterjee quits as ONGC finance director

Vol 5, PW 8 (06 Jun 01) News in Brief

N. Chatterjee, director finance at ONGC, is the first casualty of Subir Raha's arrival as chairman of ONGC.

Chatterjee filed his resignation letter to the oil ministry on Monday 29th May. A source tells Petrowatch the oil ministry took note of Chatterjee's resignation on Tuesday 30th May and approved it shortly after.

Chatterjee was runner-up to Raha in the race to become chairman of ONGC. It's believed he began looking for a new job as soon as it became apparent he would not get the post of chairman.

An unconfirmed report suggests he now intends to work as a consultant. Others at ONGC confirm that resentment is brewing up against the appointment of Raha.
