Higher than expected future gas production from the Cairn-operated Ravva field offshore Andhra Pradesh has prompted GAIL to approve construction of an additional gas pipeline.

GAIL's board on 29th June discussed the possibility of an "increase" in future gas production from Ravva and agreed to construct an additional 18-inch, 10-km pipeline "and associated facilities from Kakinada Junction Point" to a local power plant operated by Bombay Suburban Electricity Supply (BSES) "on a fast-track basis with early gas delivery system targeted for completion by 30th September this year". Cost: Rs21.5cr ($4.73m).
