Vajpayee inaugurates Jamnagar-Loni pipeline on May 9th

GAIL intends to sharply hike capacity of its 1,270-km Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline by 2012.

A GAIL statement released ahead of the May 9th official inauguration of the pipeline by prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said pipeline capacity would increase to 2.5m tonnes a year from its present capacity of 1.7m t/y. Since November last year the pipeline has transported 150,000 tonnes of LPG.

It carries LPG from Reliance's 27m t/y refinery at Jamnagar for evacuation at Ajmer and Jaipur in Rajasthan, Piyala in Haryana, Madanpur in Delhi and Loni in Uttar Pradesh.
