Petrom targets January 15th spudding for BB-OS-5

Romanian state-owned oil company Petrom has targeted January 15th for spudding of its offshore south Gujarat block BB-OS-5.

A Transocean Sedco Forex jack-up cantilever rig FG McClintock has arrived on location and is sitting in water depth of 41 metres. Target drilling depth is 2,600 metres in a one well programme scheduled for completion in 50 days at a cost of $8m.

PETROWATCH learns this is part of Phase-II of the minimum work programme, which also includes shooting 100 sq km 3D. Estimated reserves are 400m barrels of oil and about 100bn cm gas.

Petrom operates this block with partner Essar Oil.
