Vol 9, PW 21 (09 Feb 06) News in Brief

Pakistan oil minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon travels to India on 16th February for a two-day visit.

Our Minister is coming here on 16th and 17th of February, said Syed Hassan Nawab, managing director of Inter State Gas Systems. Nawab was in India for a two-day meeting of technical experts to discuss the overland pipeline from Iran that ended on 31st January.

Expected with Jadoon are officials from the petroleum and foreign affairs ministries of Pakistan. The ministers itinerary has not yet been finalised, adds Nawab.

However, we understand Jadoon is interested in visiting a refinery. During his visit to Islamabad in June 2005, former oil minister Mani Shankar Aiyar extended an invitation to Jadoon to carry forward talks on the transnational pipeline.

Jadoon was to visit India in August but could not come. He last came to India in November 2004 as part of a delegation led by Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
