Wild Well Control of Houston to ONGC's aid at South Kadi blow-out

Vol 5, PW 22 (19 Dec 01) News in Brief

Two well control experts from US-based company Wild Well Control are at onland Gujarat's South Kadi field to help ONGC fight a blow out.

Exploratory well SK 108 began an uncontrolled flow of oil and gas on 8th December. We are told the flow snapped the wireline cable assembly but ONGC staff at site managed to temporarily subdue the rogue well, before it resumed spewing oil and gas.

ONGC unsuccessfully tried to control the resumed flow by pumping in mud fluids but had to call in overseas help. We are told the well is expected to be controlled within this week.
