Bankapur selected as new IOC director refineries

Indian Oil executive director refineries BN Bankapur is set to become the companys new director refineries to replace Jaspal Singh who retires on 30th September this year.

PETROWATCH learns the Public Enterprises Selection Board that manages the appointments of director and CMD level positions in Indian state-owned companies approved Bankapurs selection after interviews in mid-March attended by several eager hopefuls. In line with current practice, only one name was selected.

Bankapurs file still needs clearance from the governments anti-corruption Central Vigilance Commission watchdog that investigates past or present allegations of impropriety. Final clearance will come from the all-powerful Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Born in August 1951, Bankapur is a chemical engineer. He joined IOC in August 1975 and became executive director in February 2004.

He retires in August 2011 aged 60.
