New gas pipelines planned for Gujarat

Vol 5, PW 25 (13 Feb 02) News in Brief

Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation is planning a new gas pipeline network to supply domestic and small commercial customers.

PETROWATCH learns GSPC has budgeted Rs100cr ($20.83m) for a network in Mehsana, Gandhinagar and Hazira by mid 2004. Gas will come from Hazira and new ONGC finds near Dholka and Mehsana.

This network is not to be confused with the proposed Gujarat gas grid, which will supply big industrial customers. Separately, we learn that GSPC sponsored Gujarat State Energy Generation plans to increase generating capacity at its 156-MW Hazira power plant by another 200 MW at a cost of Rs700cr ($145m).
