Kaul demands project update from Hindustan Petroleum

Oil secretary Vijayendra Kaul wants Hindustan Petroleum to quicken implementation of its projects.

Hindustan Petroleum chairman Hira Lal Zutshi replies to Kaul with an assurance of speedy progress and an update of two key projects. Zutshi says the 223-km Vijaywada-Secunderabad pipeline costing Rs377cr ($78.54m) is in the 'last mile' stage and will be completed on schedule in May 2002.

Zutshi adds that pre-project activities at the Guru Gobind Singh refinery in Punjab such as selection of technology suppliers, appointment of a project management consultant are in progress and the project will be completed on schedule in December 2005.
