Reliance tops refinery production figures last year

Vol 6, PW 6 (22 May 02) Midstream & Downstream

Only Reliance's 27m t/y refinery at Jamnagar produced more than expected last year, according to ministry numbers.

Updated domestic crude oil refining figures for 2001-02 point an accusing finger at state-owned oil companies for failing to meet planned targets for the year. They only managed to utilise 90.7% of their combined installed capacity, while Reliance utilised 109.8%.

Reliance also comes top in a year-to-year comparison of capacity utilisation: in 2000-01 it was 96.4% for Reliance but only 90.7% for state refiners.
