John Brown Technologies helps ONGC at Mumbai High

Vol 6, PW 19 (20 Nov 02) News in Brief

ONGC has appointed Bangalore-based John Brown Technologies to help it produce more oil from existing wells and platforms at Mumbai High (South).

A Notification of Award was sent to John Brown mid-September. JBT will be working alongside Worley of Australia, ONGC's principal consultant for the Mumbai High (South).

Its new assignment is part of the ongoing $1.5bn revamp of the field. John Brown will be paid Rs1.2cr by ONGC for consultancy on basic engineering, development of specifications, drawings and other material designed to hike production from existing platforms BHS, WIS, SLQ and SA.

As ONGC's main consultant, Worley wants to "identify whether the application of international best practice will have a material effect on the Mumbai High (South) redevelopment." Put simply, Worley's job is to give a second opinion.
