Reliance asks Kvaerner to prepare deepwater plan

Vol 6, PW 21 (18 Dec 02) News in Brief

Reliance has asked consultant Aker Kvaerner of Norway to "conceptualise and prepare" a plan to develop its gas discovery at KG-DWN-98/3.

We understand Reliance has asked Kvaerner to draw up a sub-sea gas gathering and onshore processing system that can deliver first gas by December 2004. Reliance was initially hoping to land first gas by July 2004 but we understand it has pushed the schedule back by several months.

Reliance chose Kvaerner for its experience in preparing similar plans for gasfields offshore Africa. Once complete, Reliance will "fine-tune" Kvaerner's plan then ask the oil ministry for approval to begin development.

On 31st October, Reliance announced a 7 trillion cubic feet discovery at KG-DWN-98/3.
