Adani Group in talks to finalise Dahej port agreement

Vol 6, PW 22 (15 Jan 03) News in Brief

Very soon the Adani Group of Gujarat hopes to close a deal with the Gujarat Maritime Board to finalise the concession agreement for the Dahej multi-purpose cargo port that will co-exist with Petronet LNG's 5m t/y LNG import terminal.

"Discussions are at a very advanced stage," a source tells this report. "We expect to complete them in another two months time." Expect financial closure some four or five months later.

Construction will begin soon thereafter, and the port will be ready in two years. The cargo port project is divided into two phases.

'Phase-I' will handle 5m t/y cargo including petroleum products. A doubling of capacity is planned for 'Phase-II'.

Adani is the operator and holds 74% stake. Petronet-LNG holds 26%.
