Surprise fall in petrol and diesel sales across India

Sales of petrol and diesel across India have fallen marginally over the past five years, according to data from the oil ministry to the parliamentary consultative committee on petroleum.

In 1998-99, the average monthly sale from Indian petrol stations was 208 kilolitres. This fell to 196 kilolitres in 2002-03.
