More than 2000 apprentices wanted across ONGC
ONGC is doing its best to combat India's high youth unemployment figures through an apprentice training and recruitment programme.
On October 4 (2024), ONGC called for applications for 2236 apprentice vacancies in 555 different trades. Expect a good response! According to World Bank estimates, India's youth unemployment rate in 2023 stood at 15.8%.
"Unlike private companies, ONGC has an obligation to society," says a senior company source. "As part of this responsibility, we train young people and ensure they become employable."
Of the 2236 vacancies, the highest number (547) is in the western sector, which includes the four producing Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Cambay, and Ankleshwar assets and the exploration wing at the Vadodara western onshore HQ. From ONGC's work centres or installations, Nazira and Sivasagar had the highest vacancies at 372.
Anyone interested must respond by October 25 (2024), and ONGC will announce the results on November 15 (2024). ONGC needs 161 apprentices in the northern sector: 115 at Dehradun, 24 at ONGC Videsh in Delhi, 13 at ONGC's Delhi office and nine in Jodhpur.
In the Mumbai sector, ONGC needs 139 apprentices in Mumbai, 20 at Panvel, 23 at Nhava, 32 at Goa, 66 at Hazira and 81 at Uran. "Programmes like this should not be limited to ONGC," comments an industry source. "Others should follow ONGC's example."
In the eastern sector, ONGC needs 583 apprentices: 140 in the Jorhat asset, 71 in Silchar and 372 in Nazira and Sivasagar. In the southern sector, ONGC needs 335 apprentices: 53 in Chennai, 76 in Kakinada, 53 in Rajahmundry and 153 in Karaikal.
