UP delays review of CGD projects

Vol 10, PW 3 (01 Jun 06) News in Brief

State authorities in Uttar Pradesh are believed to be worried about the new Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board Bill that was passed by parliament in March.

Because of the Bill, its believed they are yet to review progress of four CGD projects that received No Objection Certificates. Adani Group was issued NOCs in November 2005 for Noida and Khurja and in January 2006 for Lucknow.

Indraprastha Gas was issued NOCs in November 2005 for Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. Sun City was issued a NOC in March 2006 for Moradabad.

UP authorities were to review progress at the end of 90 days but nothing has yet happened. Several scheduled meetings of the Review Panel have been postponed without reason.

Under the NOCs, companies must submit within 90 days: a letter of gas commitment; details of gas supply; project feasibility; implementation schedule; commitments from major suppliers.
