Vol 7, PW 4 (07 May 03) News in Brief

ONGC Videsh has appointed three directors to oversee its Sudan operations where it recently closed a $720m deal to buy Talisman Energy's 25% stake in the Greater Nile Oil Project.

K.K Venkatramani and Dutch national Alexander Mackay will be based in Amsterdam.

V. Ravindranath will be based in Delhi.

Talisman's Sudan operations were run by a fully owned subsidiary based in The Netherlands. OVL has decided to continue the services of 23 expatriates of the 74 positions that Talisman had for its Sudan operations, for an initial period of one year to enable a smooth changeover and also to retain the services and compensation packages of Sudanese staff.

OVL will replace the rest with staff drawn from ONGC.
