Adani Welspun 'cluster' development plan

Vol 24, PW 15 (17 Jun 21) News in Brief

Adani Welspun wants to embark on a more efficient "cluster" development of its discoveries at NELP-VII block MB-OSN-2005/2 with adjacent DSF-1 block MB/OSDSF/B9/2016.

"With these two adjoining blocks gas-bearing with associated condensate and potential GIIP in the range of 600bn cubic feet," announced the company on June 10 (2021), "AWEL plans to work on its field development plan as a cluster which should improve the commercial viability of both blocks." Adani Welspun adds it has 'completed' appraisal/development well B9AWEL-2 at MB/OSDSF/B9/2016, spud on March 26 (2021) by Shelf jack-up Parameswara in 35-metre water depths, and that initial estimates ("subject to completion of a detailed study") suggest the DSF-1 block holds 85bn cubic feet of in-place gas.

Before it took over the field, Adani Welspun said ONGC had drilled three wells at MB/OSDSF/B9/2016 (B-9-1, B-9-2 and B-9-3) and that two wells (B-9-1 and B-9-3) together tested 10-tcf. Adani Welspun's move to club development of the two blocks follows a March 15 (2021) announcement that well AWEL A-1 at NELP-VII block MB-OSN-2005/2 had tested 274,673 cm/d and 378 b/d of condensate from Object-1 and 257,683 cm/d and 443 b/d of condensate from Object-2.

Incorporated on August 5 (2005), Adani Welspun is a joint venture between Adani Enterprises (65%) and Welspun Natural Resources (35%).
