ASTO asks ONGC to delay transfers

Like at IndianOil, ONGC’s employee union Association of Scientific and Technical Officers (ASTO) has asked management to defer transfers.

ONGC has already delayed all transfers until 2021, except for those whose promotions are linked to their new assignments or when an employee moves up to the next grade, but only if he moves to his new role. ASTO has asked for the postponement of promotion-linked transfers as well in a letter sent to chairman Shashi Shanker on May 25.

"We have asked management to not delay promotions in case officers cannot move to new locations," adds an ASTO source. ONGC issued a transfer list in March for nearly 1500 officers, including key executives, promotion-linked transfers, and succession planning transfers.

Of these, 21 were group general managers in E8 grade promoted to executive director level in E9 category: and four of these group general managers must move to a new location. At the same, a total 35 chief general managers in E7 grade were promoted to group general manager position in E8 class, of which ten officers were transferred out of the region in which they were based.

In total, about 36 officers are on promotion linked transfers.
