Still no sign of MJ-1 awards from Reliance

Vol 22, PW 11 (21 Mar 19) News in Brief

Impatient contractors hungry to begin work at the MJ-1 field inside KG-DWN-98/3 are confident operator Reliance will start awarding outstanding contracts from April this year (2019).

"Reliance tells us they are targeting to award these projects early in the second quarter of (calendar year) 2019 (April-June)," reports a bidder. "This is perhaps the longest Reliance has ever taken to award contracts (for a KG-D6) development programme."

Until now Reliance has been telling contractors it is too busy with the nearby R-Series development, also inside KG-DWN-98/3, to focus on the less prospective MJ-1 field. "We are constantly following up with Reliance," adds a second source.

"But all they say is evaluation is still ongoing." More than a year has passed since TechnipFMC, GE, Aker Kvaerner and OneSubsea bid to supply X-Mas trees, wellheads, pipeline-end manifolds and other subsea well control equipment in February 2018.

Since then Samsung, Modec and a Technip-SBM consortium bid to supply a FPSO for MJ-1 on October 15 (2018) and on October 8 TechnipFMC and McDermott bid to supply and install Subsea Umbilical Risers and Flowlines and install subsea well control equipment.
