Gujarat Petronet is about to complete the first phase of its ambitious 2, 200-km natural gas grid in Gujarat.

GSPC subsidiary Gujarat Petronet has already commissioned 365-km of the planned 525-km first phase. Another 90-km is under construction and is expected to be operational by September this year.

On 22nd July, Gujarat Petronet began looking for an engineering and procurement consultant to implement an 18-inch, 96-km pipeline that covers three sections: Anklav to Dhuvaran (30-km), Kalol to Mehsana (60-km) and a spur pipeline for Essar Power in Surat (6-km). Interested parties need to have implemented at least one gas pipeline with a minimum diameter of 18-inch and 60-km length in the last three years.

On 17th May, Gujarat Petronet commissioned its 323-km Baroda to Ahmedabad pipeline through Kalol. The second phase of the gas grid envisages 600-km of pipeline in Saurashtra.
