Greatship and Prince win ONGC vessel LoAs

Vol 20, PW 13 (23 Mar 17) News in Brief

ONGC has won drastically reduced rates in its tender to replace two 150-tonne bollard pull Anchor Handling Tugs (AHTs) and three 80-tonne AHTs whose contracts ended from November 2016 to February 2017.

On March 17, ONGC hired Greatship's Greatship Vimla at $7830/day in the 150-tonne category and Prince Marine's ASL Cheel, ASL Bagula and ASL Aba Bee at $5391/day in the 80-tonne category for five years each. This is a huge reduction from the prevailing $14,500 rate for 150-tonne AHTs and $7000 for 80-tonne AHTs.

ONGC still needs to hire one more vessel in the 150-tonne category so TAG Offshore might get a contract if it matches Greatship's rate. When ONGC opened price bids on February 1, TAG ranked second in the 150-tonne category offering TAG 10 and 22 and Seawork 123, each at $7900/day.

Also in the race was Hind Offshore with Lady Sandra at $7950/day followed by Raj Shipping with Skandi Stord at $8190/day and Vision Projects Technologies offering Lewek Swan at $9500/day. In the 80-tonne category, TAG also offered TAG 13 and PFS offered PFS Courage and Brave.
