ONGC extends Bokaro rig tender

Vol 20, PW 5 (17 Nov 16) News in Brief

ONGC is expected to add an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to the scope of work in a tender to hire a 75-tonne mobile CBM drilling rig for three years.

ONGC wants to hire a rig and integrated mud services to drill 155 wells at the Bokaro CBM field in Jharkhand and originally set an October 28 deadline to receive technical and price bids. "But the bid deadline has been extended because ONGC wants to add an ETP in the scope of work to dispose of mud that will be used for drilling," we hear.

"An ETP is used to treat wastewater which is a by-product of industrial use." Still unclear is the new bid deadline for the tender. ONGC must give companies at least three weeks to submit bids after it issues the pre-bid minutes.

"We are hearing that the minutes will be issued soon," adds a source. "But ONGC has yet to give a date." The pre-bid on September 30 was attended by Essar Oilfield Services, Shiv Ganga Drillers, John Energy, Schlumberger, Greka Drilling, South West Pinnacle and Towell Drilling among others.

This tender was issued on September 2.
