DGH sticks to November 21 bid deadline

Vol 20, PW 5 (17 Nov 16) News in Brief

DGH boss Atanu Chakraborty is determined to ensure November 21 is the final bid deadline for the Discovered Small Fields (DSF) licensing round.

Chakraborty stressed this to PETROWATCH on the sidelines of an economic editors' conference in Delhi on November 10. "Our last extension was because of Diwali," said Chakraborty.

"Don't expect any further extensions." Originally the deadline to bid for 67 discovered fields under 46 contract areas was October 31. After overhearing the conversation between our correspondent and Chakraborty, oil secretary KD Tripathi added: "Don't worry we will receive many bids! On November 21 we will know who has bid for which field." Only small Indian and foreign companies are likely to participate with several newcomers.

Still unclear is if ONGC and Oil India will bid after an unconfirmed oil ministry directive asking them to stay away. Chakraborty said the DGH is working hard to resolve growing operator concerns over how unfinished work programme costs by earlier operators ONGC and Oil India are calculated.
