Cairn tenders display PSC extension confidence

Vol 20, PW 1 (22 Sep 16) Exploration & Production

Remember, remember the fourth of November - because that's when the government promises to finally decide whether to grant Cairn India a 10-year extension to its Rajasthan PSC after replying in detail to the Delhi High Court on October 14.

But Cairn isn't waiting until then - clearly confident of a positive outcome and pressing ahead with a tender to increase Raageshwari Gas Terminal capacity to 100m cf/d (2.8m cm/d) by 2017. By October 12 Cairn wants anyone interested to submit EoIs to supply packages for additional RGT gas processing facilities including Compressor Package Units, Gas Turbine Driven Power Generators, a Gas Processing Package and a Slug Catcher.

Cairn also wants EoIs by September 22 for an offshore supply vessel to transport oil from the shore to a Single Point Mooring (SPM) at Bhogat linking the 670-km Barmer to Bhogat crude evacuation pipeline. From the SPM crude will be transported by crude carriers to the MRPL refinery in Karnataka.

All this should help prepare for additional oil production from the Rajasthan block RJ-ON-90/1 and additional gas production from the Raageshwari Deep gasfield, where Cairn has completed a 15-well fracking campaign begun in December last year (2015). Gas production at Raageshwari today stands at 28m cf/d (793,000 cm/d), up from 27m cf/d (765,000 cm/d) in 2015-16 and 16m cf/d (453,000 cm/d) in 2014-15.
