Cairn slices up RDG project and serves it fresh

Cairn India has invited three separate EoIs by December 4 from contractors interested in its revamped project to install compressors and generators at the proposed additional Raageshwari Gas Processing terminal in Rajasthan.

Cairn issued the EoI notices on November 13 for design, engineering, testing, supply and supervision for the installation of booster compressors that can handle 60m-120m cf/d (1.7m-3.4m cm/d) water saturated gas; export gas compressors that can handle between 30m-100m cf/d (850,000-2.8m cm/d) gas; and gas turbine generators that can deliver a minimum 6-MW power. Cairn has also issued a limited tender to prepare a FEED report for this project, where it wants bids by November 25.

Tecnimont, Technip, Uhde, Engineers India, Foster Wheeler and Bechtel are potential bidders. Technip prepared the FEED for an earlier incarnation of this project that was meant to handle 100m cf/d.

“Cairn has downsized the project to handle around 60m cf/d,” says a likely bidder. Cairn had earlier invited a combined EPC tender, which included compressors, a pipeline and other facilities for the additional terminal to process and send out gas from the Raageshwari Deep Gas (RDG) field.

Bids for that tender were submitted in 2014 by Tecnimont, Essar Projects, Black & Veatch, Uhde and Larsen & Toubro. In the last version of the EPC tender, Cairn initially scaled down the project and then received revised bids on May 23, 2015.

From late September to October 8 this year, Cairn held negotiations with several bidders but eventually scrapped the tender.
