Petronas of Malaysia is clearly determined to sell gas to India.

PETROWATCH learns a four-member team from the companys LNG marketing division landed in Delhi (where it is staying at Le Meridien Hotel) on (Sunday) 25th June on a five-day visit till (Friday) 30th June. Petronas held a three-hour meeting with Petronet-LNG CEO Prosad Dasgupta in his office on 26th June and offered him between 2m to 3m t/y LNG through either short or long term contracts from its own liquefaction plants or overseas liquefaction trains where it has a stake.

We can supply gas from within our system, says a source. Or from other countries like Egypt and Iran.

Petronas also held meetings in Delhi with the Adani Group, GSPC, GAIL, Essar, Torrent Group and NTPC. In May 2004, Petronas lost out to Reliance in a tender to supply NTPC with 3m t/y LNG over 17 years for the Kawas and Gandhar power plants.
