Vol 8, PW 19 (15 Dec 04) News in Brief

ONGCs Mumbai High redevelopment programme has received a major boost with the imminent installation of the $222.2m Mumbai South Platform.

The MSP includes seven deck modules, a jacket and piles from Hyundai Heavy Industries that are reaching Mumbai in phases. ONGC began the installation process on 11th December after the arrival of the MSP jacket and deck modules in Mumbai.

The entire installation process will take around one and half months, ONGC tells us. Hyundai was awarded the contract on 10th October 2003 through an international bidding process.

Worley of Australia was the technical consultant to this project. This was the first process platform to be tendered on functional specifications and new tender rules, adds ONGC.

Scheduled for completion in July 2007, the Mumbai High South Redevelopment project envisages incremental oil production of 35.96m t/y and 9.6bn cf/d gas by 2030.
