Har Govind heads ONGC Ankleshwar asset

Vol 17, PW 21 (05 Jun 14) News in Brief

ONGC’s Karaikal asset manager Har Govind took over as Ankleshwar asset manager in south Gujarat on May 21.

He succeeds Ashok Gupta who retired on April 30 after three and a half decades at ONGC. “My top priority is to arrest declining Ankleshwar production,” Govind tells PETROWATCH.

Ankleshwar is one of ONGC's largest onland assets with 25 fields. “But some fields are more than 50 years old,” adds Govind.

“It's challenging to maintain production.” Ankleshwar oil production today stands at 19,600 b/d from more than 1600 wells.

Govind, 57, trained as an electrical engineer and has worked across ONGC’s drilling, surface and allied services divisions. He’s no stranger to Gujarat, having earlier worked at the firm’s Mehsana and Ahmedabad assets in north Gujarat and at the Agartala asset in Tripura.

He also worked at the Hazira gas processing plant handling 46m cm/d of sour gas and 7900 t/d of sour condensate.
