Uttar Pradesh-based Green Gas believes its luck could change this year, allowing it to finally connect luxury hotels in Agra to its gas network and increase gas connections to homes in Lucknow.

IndianOil and GAIL gas retail joint venture Green Gas failed to connect hotels around the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra last year because of delayed clearances from local authorities. “We’ve now received most clearances,” confirms Green Gas.

“Connections to the hotels will be from the ‘mother station’ we set up on July 31 last year near the Taj.” In 2014-15, Green Gas will connect 40 to 50 hotels in Agra, expected to consume 8000 cm/d.

Green Gas also wants to increase household gas connections from 4000 to 24,000. In Lucknow, known for its Muslim culture, the company plans to add 10,000 household gas connections.

“Our focus will be new apartment complexes built by the Lucknow Development Authority and Awas Vikas as well as property developers Omaxe and Ansals,” we hear. In the last fiscal Green Gas planned to add 4000 households in Lucknow but managed only 1000 as apartment complexes were not constructed in time.

Many are nearly complete now. Last year Green Gas also shelved plans to supply 10,000 cm/d to a proposed Tata car factory in Lucknow, which never materialised.

Green Gas also slashed CAPEX planned to lay a 4-inch diameter, 10-km steel pipeline to the factory.
