Vol 17, PW 15 (13 Mar 14) News in Brief

Jindal Drilling will begin deploying directional drilling (DD) and measurement while drilling (MWD) equipment end-May to ONGC fields at Ahmedabad, Ankleshwar, Karaikal and Kakinada after beating Weatherford, Halliburton and Newsco to clinch a three-year contract.

ONGC confirmed the Jindal contract - with a three-month extension option - on January 31 for two ‘kits’ at Ankleshwar, three at Ahmedabad, one at Karaikal and one at Kakinada at an ‘operating day rate’ of $4000/day and a ‘non-operating’ standby rate of $2000/day for work on (mainly) development wells drilled to 1000 to 5000 metres TD. In May 2012, Essar contracted Jindal to supply four kits for its Raniganj CBM development and in Arunachal Pradesh GeoEnpro hired Jindal for a nine-well contract in July 2011 at Kharsang.

Joshi Technologies has ‘call-out’ contracts with Jindal for six wells at Dholka while Selan Exploration has a ‘call-out’ contract for eight wells.
