Who will replace Talukdar at Oil India?

Vol 17, PW 4 (19 Sep 13) News in Brief

BN Talukdar’s imminent move to the DGH has set tongues wagging over who will replace him as director exploration at Oil India.

At least seven Oil India candidates are being touted as potential replacements when the PESB advertises the director exploration post. The most senior, group general manager Varunoday Sharma, is unlikely to apply because after October 1 he has less than two years to retirement.

Likely to apply are JK Borgahain, group general manager (GGM) at Rajasthan; Rahul Das Gupta, GM at North East Frontier projects; Vedant Prasad Sharma, GM at KG blocks; Sambhu Nath Singh, GM geoservices at Duliajan; PK Sharma, GM at exploration monitoring group in Delhi; Sampad Kumar Jena, GM geology and reservoir Duliajan and Bijay Kumar Mohanty, GM risk management. Outgoing DGH chief RN Choubey may shift to the finance ministry’s department of expenditure or the Department of Personnel and Training.
