Six compete for Oil India drilling tender

Vol 16, PW 19 (18 Apr 13) News in Brief

Oil India is evaluating six bids in a tender to hire directional drilling services and Measurement While Drilling tools for its fields in north-eastern Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Companies who sent in bids by April 4 were Jindal Drilling, Schlumberger, Weatherford, Udipta Energy, Newsco Drilling and Abu-Dhabi based AlMansoori Specialised Engineering. Oil India is offering a three year contract with an optional one year extension.

Newsco is the frontrunner to win, as it is already working at Oil India sites in Assam and always quotes rock-bottom rates, according to a driller. “We are evaluating technical bids and will send clarifications out by the first week of May,” reports an Oil India source.

“We expect to open the price bids in June and award the tender.” Oil India, he adds, wants the selected contractor to mobilise within 90 days of receiving the LoA for this estimated $5m contract.
