Vol 16, PW 15 (21 Feb 13) News in Brief

Oil India is planning a tender in April to hire a Project Management Consultant to set up 20 small gas-fired power stations of less than 1-MW each at isolated gasfields in and around Duliajan, where it is headquartered.

The power stations will be used at drilling sites for internal consumption by Oil India at it fields. EoIs were invited last December and a pre-tender conference held in Kolkata on February 4.

Oil India wants the proposed power stations set up by the end of 2015. Six companies delivered presentations at the pre-tender conference: Kavin Engineering & Services, Tractebel Engineering, Mott MacDonald, a’XYKno Capital Services, Drashta Power Consultants, and Tractors India.

Oil India wants to award the PMC contract by May this year. Whoever wins will be asked to gauge the power requirements at its drilling installations, decide the size of gas engine generating sets to be deployed, and prepare an action plan with project completion timelines.
