MRPL director technical

Vol 16, PW 1 (26 Jul 12) News in Brief

ONGC refining subsidiary Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) needs a new director technical.

Public Enterprises Selection Board officials began searching on July 16 for a candidate to fill the vacancy, empty since July 1 when PP Upadhya became company MD. Five group general managers might apply, according to a company source: Vijay Joshi, projects; Vinay Kumar, technical services; K.

Lakshminarayan, human resources; KS Koppalkar, materials; and M. Venkatesh, business development.

“Joshi is the most senior but at a disadvantage because he has less than two years left to retirement,” we learn. Kumar, who has been in technical services since April, is tipped as the frontrunner but faces competition from Lakshminarayan in human resources.

Venkatesh is a chemical engineer with the right qualifications. “He has worked under Joshi for a long time and understands the company well,” we learn.

Interested candidates must submit CVs by August 30.
