ONGC rig tender extension

Vol 15, PW 26 (12 Jul 12) News in Brief

ONGC has postponed by two weeks the bid deadline in its tender for a dynamic positioning system floater to operate in water depths of 1300 metres for two years.

ONGC moved the deadline to July 13 (tomorrow) after requests from prospective bidders Aban Offshore, Great Offshore and ABG Shipyard. None of them had a rig available by the original June 29 deadline.

ONGC wants to replace Transocean’s Discoverer Seven Seas, which it released in February and wants the new rig mobilised by October 31 to India’s east coast. ONGC can expect day rate offers of around $350,000.

Deepwater Drilling is expected to offer Noble Drilling’s Noble Muravlenko, presently offshore Brazil; Transocean might offer Discoverer 534 and Sedco 709, both cold-stacked offshore Malaysia; and ArcticMorNefteGazRazvedka will offer Deep Venture, moored offshore Malaysia. Jasper Offshore’s Jasper Explorer, offshore Spain, might be offered through Aban, Great Offshore or ABG Shipyard.
