Reliance offshore 3D bids

Five seismic contractors are likely to submit final bids to Reliance by the end of this week in a limited tender to shoot 4300-sq km 3D across two massive NELP-III eastern offshore deepwater blocks.

Teams from Polarcus, WesternGeco, CGGVeritas, PGS and Fugro met Reliance individually between June 13 and 16 to discuss concerns over tender terms. “Almost every contractor had some problem,” says a source.

Reliance was expected to send out a final modified tender document by the end of last week, incorporating bidders’ concerns. Bidders were given the liberty to re-submit price bids if they felt the modifications warrant this.

Reliance is considering a proposal to shoot 1650-sq km 3D at 8600-sq km Cauvery-Palar basin block CY-PR-DWN-2001/3, where it partners BP. It has firmly decided to shoot 2650-sq km 3D at 14,325-sq km block CY-DWN-2001/2.

Both blocks lie in water depths of over 3000 metres. Reliance wants the selected contractor to begin shooting 3D after the rains end, probably in October, and complete the job by May next year.
