R-LNG wanted at GSFC

Vol 15, PW 23 (31 May 12) News in Brief

GAIL, Petronet-LNG and GSPC are all talking separately to Gujarat government-owned Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals (GSFC), which needs 3m cm/d R-LNG for its proposed urea factory at Dahej.

GSFC expects to begin constructing the 3000-tonnes/day facility by the end of this year and to commission it by 2016. On pricing GSFC appears ready to pay the market rate for R-LNG, as it is covered through government subsidies to the fertiliser sector.

The company currently receives 2m cm/d of gas in total, a combination of KG-D6 gas from Reliance, ONGC gas from its Ankleshwar fields, and R-LNG. Most is used as raw material for its 300,000 t/y urea factory at Vadodara.

Besides urea, GSFC also produces 1m t/y of diammonium phosphate for use as fertiliser at its Vadodara and Sikka factories in Gujarat. “Our current gas supplies more or less satisfy our demand up to 2015-16,” says GSFC.

“But we have yet to finalise R-LNG supplier for our Dahej unit.”
