PK Borthakur under CVC scanner

Vol 15, PW 22 (17 May 12) News in Brief

ONGC’s incoming director offshore PK Borthakur is under investigation by the anti-corruption Central Vigilance Commission watchdog.

Last week CVC section officer A. Biswas sent a note to oil ministry chief vigilance officer LN Gupta saying three ONGC officials face accusations from an unnamed source.

“A copy of the complaint against executive director PK Borthakur, and deputy general managers PK Goel and Shri Satyapal has been received and is enclosed for your necessary action,” writes Biswas. “The identity of the complainant has been kept secret.

” Still unclear is what exactly the complaint alleges, but a well-placed source tells us it includes accusations of corruption. Borthakur is currently head of ONGC’s flagship Mumbai High asset but will step into the ONGC director offshore role by the end of this month.

Sudhir Vasudeva vacated the post last October when he became company chairman. Aged 58, Borthakur was selected on March 6 by the PESB.
