DD West boundary

Oil ministry officials could take a final call in early 2012 on whether to allow GSPC a 20.5-sq km extension to its Deen Dayal West gas discovery.

PETROWATCH learns the DGH has approved GSPC’s extension in the second week of December. “Now the ministry must give its clearance,” we hear.

GSPC wants to extend the boundary of its 1850-sq km shallow water block KG-OSN-2001/3 to include an area sitting on a ‘fault’ just south of Deen Dayal West, ‘contiguous’ to the Deen Dayal West reservoir. If its proposal is approved, GSPC will not need to sign a new PSC for the additional 20.5-sq km area.

Meanwhile, development drilling continues at the field despite protests by local fishermen. Jack-up Deep Driller-1, hired from Aban Offshore since March 2010 at $112,000/day, completed drilling well DDW-D1 to 2616 metres TD by end-November.

It has also completed well DDW-D2 to 2806 metres TD and well DDW-D3 to 2464 metres TD and is busy drilling the fourth well.
