ONGC jack-ups

ONGC is expected to invite bids shortly to hire three more Mumbai High jack-ups, in a tender process entirely separate to its ongoing tenders to replace or re-hire Mumbai High jack-ups.

PETROWATCH learns ONGC wants rigs that can drill in water depths of up to 300 metres, and will offer three year contracts. It also wants the selected contractor(s) to provide allied services like ‘cementing,’ ‘directional drilling,’ ‘mud engineering,’ and ‘mud logging.

’ By August 18, ONGC had received EoIs from Transocean, Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, and Greatship. Baker Hughes has also made a presentation to ONGC while Greatship has expressed interest in providing only the rigs and ‘marine services.

’ “ONGC will want each rig and allied services offered at around $100,000/day,” we learn. “But bidders are likely to quote no less than $80,000/day for each rig and $50,000/day for allied services.

” ONGC issued a similar tender three years ago but only Transocean showed interest.
