BJP targets BG

BG subsidiary Gujarat Gas will undoubtedly be asking why it has been singled out for blame by the ruling state-run BJP administration in Gujarat for an unavoidable price hike that has seen the pump price of CNG rise sharply by Rs3 from Rs36.75/kg ($0.82) to Rs39.75/kg ($0.88).

On (Monday) July 18 a group of BJP workers led by state lawmaker Kishore Wankawala staged a noisy demonstration at the Gujarat Gas receiving and distribution hub at Adajan in western Surat. They were protesting at the Gujarat Gas decision on July 11 to impose an immediate Rs3 price hike on CNG sold from its 42 outlets across its operational areas in Surat, Bharuch and Ankleshwar in south Gujarat.

“This is the third straight price increase by Gujarat Gas in the past six months between January and June this year,” said Wankawala. “GSPC Gas has also hiked up CNG prices,” responds a Gujarat Gas source.

“Why has BJP not carried out similar protests against government owned companies”
