Three new directors for DGH

Vol 13, PW 19 (11 Mar 10) News in Brief

Here’s confirmation that the oil ministry plans to dilute the powers of the incoming DGH director general.

Three new DGH director posts have been advertised on the oil ministry website and the deadline for applications is March 26. These three new posts for director finance, director legal and director administration will most likely form a new layer under the DG and absorb some of his current powers.

All require qualifications matching those held mainly by IAS bureaucrats, further confirming reports first reported by this report about ministry determination to tighten its grip on the DGH. These directors will hold the same rank as directors in the government of India’s bureaucracy.

They will have a minimum two-year term but can stay for a maximum five years. The director finance and director administration should be aged less than 50 with 12 years relevant work experience, while the director legal should not be older than 55, with 10 years relevant work experience.
